I certainly can utrdesnand, as an actor, one needs to keep the character being portrayed as it’s written in the screenplay. Reading the books might lead to confusion, such as Tara’s character is a white gal who owns a clothing store. I’ve enjoyed Tara in True Blood without needing them to be exactly alike, but I don’t think I could do that if I were portraying Tara.
